Refrigerators

NEAT will help you determine whether it is cost-effective to replace an existing refrigerator if you enter information about both the existing refrigerator and the replacement unit. This lesson shows you how to run that comparison.

You will need to know the following information about the existing equipment:

  • Current energy use, measured by kWh/year, age and door seal condition, or
  • Data collected by metering the existing unit, or
  • Manufacturer and model (using NEAT’s database)

To evaluate the replacement unit, you will need:

  • The rated or nameplate energy usage
  • Cost

This lesson uses data from the example site-built home. Please have the home’s details printed and available for your reference with this lesson.
