The Weatherization Assistant is designed to assist states and local weatherization agencies implement the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Weatherization Assistance Program. It serves as the umbrella program for the National Energy Audit Tool (NEAT) and the Manufactured Home Energy Audit (MHEA).
Both NEAT and MHEA are audit tools that provide input to the auditor on which energy measures are cost effective. Since the audit tools only consider energy savings, though, the auditor must still manually note repair or health and safety recommendations in the report.
In this lesson, you’ll get a brief overview of the Weatherization Assistant energy audit software, to get perspectives on the program’s purpose and limitations.
